Play and Language (aged 0-3 years) Programme length: 12 hours (joint or mother, father or carer programmes only) The play and language programme is designed to give information to parents/carers of 0-3 years old and focuses on communication, language, literacy and play. The aims of the programme are to: Support parents and carers and their babies/toddlers with language development and positive interaction To demonstrate to parents and carers the importance of how improving their own skills can help their children in early language development. Play with Language (aged 3-5 years) Programme length: 12 and or 30 hours (joint, mother, father or carer programmes) The Play and Language programme is designed to support parents/carers and their children with language, development and positive interaction The aims of the programme are to: Encourage parents and their children to explore ways of playing, listening, talking, singing, telling stories and early writing. To improve parents/carers skills and help them prepare their child’s entry to primary school Early Start Programme length: 30 hours Baby Talk 0-1 year, Small Talk 1-2 years, Talk Together 2-3 years (mother, father or carer only programme) This course aims to enhance language development from birth to 3 and encourage positive everyday interactions among parents/carers and their babies and young children. Parents/carers will explore ways of playing, talking with and listening to their children, whilst having the opportunity to develop their own language, literacy and numeracy skills. Early Start encourages the use of all languages spoken at home and lays a foundation for lifelong literacy and learning. |
